CATBALOGAN CITY -- Suspected drug personalities believed to be members of the Oding Sambulawan drug syndicate operating in Eastern Samar were recently busted in an entrapment conducted by authorities.
In a belated report released by authorities, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Eastern Visayas Director Edgar Jubay said his team, in coordination with Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office, Philippine National Police Public Safety Company, Provincial Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force, and elements from 14th Infantry Battalion, arrested two suspected members of the drug syndicate during an entrapment in Barangay G. Poblacion, Borongan City.
Arrested were Emmah Ortiga, 30, married and resident of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur; and Adelaida "Jana" Camilo, 25, single and a resident of Campong Jalao, Togala, Lanao del Sur.
Ortiga and Camilo are said to be temporarily residing in Barangay Maypangdan, Borongan City, and are members of the Oding Sambulawan Drug Group operating in Borongan.
Confiscated during the operation were assorted drug paraphernalia and 16 pieces of heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing more or less one gram and with an estimated market value of P8,000.
The suspects have been detained at the Borongan Police Station and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. (Sunnex)
