WITH his fascination towards the Japanese culture and arts, 24-year-old Wilson Limon got the inspiration to create fashion pieces that do not only reflect this, but his creativity and ingenuity as well.
Calling his new line the Niño Franco Kimonos, this young designer from Davao City has produced trendy sweaters that can be worn both in formal and casual gatherings, or simply a cover up when attending a business meeting or just having lunch with family and friends.
“My fascination for Japanese culture and fashion inspired me to create the Kimonos,” he shared.
Limon said he have been wanting to visit Japan and discover the story behind their culture, tradition and fashion.
“I’m confident that there’s a lot of inspiration from the land of the rising sun,” he added. “Hopefully, I would be able to visit Japan to experience their lifestyle and be able to make a collection inspired from Japanese art and culture.”
When asked about how special these kimono-inspired cardigans are, Limon shared that the fulfillment of having infused modern fashion with Japanese culture is something that he takes pride of.
“The kimonos I’m selling right now come in different modern colors that would complement your outfit,” he narrated. “I’m also working on a ‘Fusion Kimono’ where I will be incorporating the traditional stitching of the T’boli tribe as an accent.”
With prices ranging from P1,500 to P2,000, you can already get a designer kimono that will surely make you stand out because of how it was meticulously crafted.
Aside from the Niño Franco Kimonos, Limon is also offering his winning pieces right now from his Genderless Collection during the Stellar tilt at Abreeza Mall in August. They are up for grabs via pre-order.
What is there to look forward to from this up and coming designer in 2017?
“I’m still working on a new line which is the NIño Franco Home but there are still a lot of things to polish. Hopefully, I’ll be able to launch it early next year,” he revealed.
