Celebrities react to SC ruling on Marcos burial

CELEBRITIES took to social media to react to the latest Supreme Court ruling allowing the transfer of late President Ferdinand Marcos' remains at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

Social activist Jim Paredes believed the high court ruling disregarded the country's history.

"Except for a few brave justices, the SC completely disregarded history. Everything is about politics, alliances. To hell with the people," he said in a Twitter post.

Host Bianca Gonzalez was left heart broken by the news while Jake Ejercito, son of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, tweeted: "Body may be buried, but not the truth."

Television personality Lourd de Veyra did not mince words upon hearing the news while actress/singer Saab Magalona was upset by the SC decision.

Meanwhile, comedian Vice Ganda said that the SC ruling will definitely divide the entire nation.

On Tuesday, the SC dismissed all petitions filed by human rights victims and groups seeking to stop the government's approval to bury Marcos at the heroes’ cemetery.

The SC said President Rodrigo Duterte "committed no grave abuse of discretion" when he directed the Department of National Defense to inter Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Duterte approves of the interment of Marcos in the cemetery reserved for soldiers and war veterans, saying it will promote national healing. (Sunnex)
