Bizman linked to assassination plot vs Duterte surrenders

A BUSINESSMAN who was linked to the alleged assassination plot of President Rodrigo Duterte was committed to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at Barangay Handumanan in Bacolod City Tuesday after he surrendered to the police.

Bryan Ta-ala of Barangay Mandalagan yielded to Chief Inspector Jovil Sedel, head of Police Station 6, with the assistance of his counsel, lawyer Leon Moya Jr., around 9:30 a.m.

Sedel said Ta-ala has an arrest warrant for illegal possession of firearms issued by Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Branch 54 Judge Eduardo Sayson on November 2, with no bail recommended.

Ta-ala was brought to BJMP around 3:30 p.m. after the police secured a commitment order from the court.

On August 6, Ta-ala and his aide were arrested at Barangay Tangub after they yielded a box containing smuggled gun parts from the United States worth P4.5 million.

Ta-ala posted a total bail of P200,000 for gun smuggling charges on September 8.

Ta-ala's counsel cannot be reached for comment as of posting.
