Benguet receives ‘Seal of Good Local Governance’ anew

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The provincial government and the municipal government units of Itogon, Kapangan, Tublay and the capital town made it to the list of Seal of Good Local Governance who were awarded in Manila last week.

Gov. Crescencio Pacalso, Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan, Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin, Tublay Mayor Lauro, and La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda together with their municipal local government operations officers received the award for their respective LGUs.

The province garnered the same recognition last year with a corresponding Performance Challenge Fund incentive amounting to P7 million.

The SGLG implemented by the DILG was rolled out in February 2014. This is a level up version of the Seal of Good Housekeeping carried out in the previous years.

Conferment of a seal to local government units adheres to performance criteria on good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection for the basic sector, business-friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management, and law and order and public safety.

Also recognized were 2015 Lupong Tagapamayapa incentives awards winners that included barangay Tuding in Itogon, Benguet as first runner-up under first-3rd class municipalities and second runner-up barangay Ambassador in Tublay, Benguet as second runner-up under the 4th-6th class category.

Tuding and Ambassador received a P100,000 and P75,000 cash incentive, respectively. (Susan Aro/PIA-CAR)
