BAGUIO City's ninth drug personality was shot early morning of Tuesday while a jeepney driver who is an alleged drug pusher got killed by still unidentified suspects in the evening.

Rommel Laruan Mapili of Zamora Street however survived the shooting which transpired at 6:40 in the morning.

Mapili, who is listed as number nine in the watch list of the PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to police a report disclosed the victim was walking along the public market when two unidentified suspects shot him several times from behind for unknown reasons.

The victim sustained three gunshot wounds but was able to seek assistance from his brother who rushed him to BGHMC for medical treatment.

The jeepney driver, identified as Dante Devera Castro, however did not survive after being shot several times along East Bayan Park at around 8:00 p.m.

Baguio City Police Office Station 6 director Chief Inspector Gil Imado said the victim surrendered to authorities in July this year but based on intelligence reports, Castro failed to participate in rehabilitation programs and continued drug to peddle drugs.

Initial investigation disclosed the victim was driving his jeepney and after all his passengers have already alighted, unidentified gunman shot him several times with the use of a still unknown caliber.

The suspect ran into an unknown direction, added the police report.

Responding police immediately rushed the victim to Baguio General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival (DOA) by the attending physician.

Castro became the 48th victim of extra judicial killing in the Cordillera region in the fight against drugs while only 12 died in legitimate police operations.

The PNP has also identified 8, 766 drug personalities in the region with 320 arrested.
