KAUSWAGAN village in Cagayan de Oro City has been cited as first runner-up in the search for the outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa across the country.
The Oro village came next to Village City Heights of General Santos City in the highly-urbanized cities category.
It is the first time that the village was recognized in the national arena, but it is its sixth time that Kauswagan was awarded in the regional level since 2010.
"Dili man sekreto nga we are really focused on resolving problems in our level [barangay], inubanan pa gyud sa motivation sa mga officials nato kung unsaon nila nga maconvince ang complainant nga mag-uliay ug dili na ipaabot pa sa laing venue (It’s not a secret that we really focused on solving the problems in our level [village], accompanied with officials’ motivation on how to convince the complainants to reconcile with each other and not to raise it to the next venue)," he said.
Kauswagan village received a total amount worth P181,000, with P100,000 from the national level, P70,000 from the regional level, and the City Government with P11,000.
"Ang P100,000 ihatag nato sa lupon and they can use it para ma-improve pa ang atong pag-solve ug mga problema and the rest of it mabutang sa improvement sa atong local building (The P100,000 will be given to village committee so they can use the money to improve the solving of problems while the rest will be put up in improving our local building)," he said.
The Lupong Tagapamayapa has three criteria, namely: efficiency in the Operations of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, effectiveness in attaining the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) objectives, and creativity and resourcefulness in the administration of KP.
The Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Justice and Liga ng mga Barangay, among others conducted a thorough assessment, evaluation and on-site visitation and validation to the participating villages that joined the search.
