13th Acosta Cup resumes Sunday

THE 13th Acosta Cup Football Ladies Tournament, who has been providing a wholesome and healthy venue among women to develop their talent and love of sport, will resume on Sunday, November 13, at the Tionko football field in Davao City.

Allen Faith Cape, who represented Davao City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum at the NCCC Mall Davao Food Cove function hall Thursday, November 10, said games in the first round of elimination will be on hand when the tournament resumes.

University of the Philippines will play against Aguilas at 1:30 p.m. while Philippine College of Technology (PCT) will collide with defending champion D' Davao Survivors (D'DS) at 3 p.m.

D'DS is currently on top of the team standings with a four-win, zero-draw and one-loss card followed by Aguilas FC (3-0-1), PCT (2-0-1), Soya FC (2-0-2) and UP FC (0-0-5).

The top two teams after the double round elimination will vie for the championship title on December 11.

Cape said this year's edition of the annual tournament missed the presence of Nakamata Kickers.

She, however, thanked their sponsors for making the football meet for ladies a success.

“We have more sponsors this year. Whatever cash our sponsors gave us we convert to prizes and shirts,” she said.

The bootfest is backed up by the City Mayor's office, Vibrant Earthmovers Inc., Jollibee, Tadeco, NCCC, RDL Pharmaceutical Laboratory Inc., Southern Toursit Inn, Ulticon Builders Inc. and Norminring KTM.
