‘Killer’ of 3-yr.-old remains at large

THE three-year-old girl who was killed by a stray bullet in Barangay Tanke, Talisay City will be laid to rest today.

But more than a week after she died, the suspect behind the death of Kit Juliana Mabala has yet to surface and be arrested by police.

Supt. Emerson Dante, acting Talisay City police chief, said that until now, they are still conducting operations against Jessmar “Tangkag” Gaviola.

Dante told Sun. Star Cebu that since Kit Juliana was killed, around four of Gaviola’s suspected hideouts in Cebu and Bohol have been checked. But the suspect couldn’t be found in any of these places.

Currently, local police are conducting manhunt operations in Bantayan Island after receiving reports that Gaviola was seen there.
Protected

Dante is also not discounting the possibility that Gaviola is still in Barangay Tanke and is being protected by his cohorts.

Gaviola was identified by local police as a notorious drug pusher in the area.

But Dante said that while his personnel are looking for Gaviola in other places, they continue to monitor his movements in Tanke.

Dante said that they plan to file charges against Gaviola after the burial.

But he ordered his men to still file the charges against Gaviola even if Kit Juliana’s parents will choose not to cooperate.

Kit Juliana’s remains will be brought to the Aglipayan Church in Barangay Cansojong before the burial.

Last week, Kit Juliana was playing outside her house when Gaviola confronted Rogard Cabañero over the status of
his broken motorcycle.

Gaviola became irked when he was told by Cabañero that his motorcycle wasn’t fixed, prompting him to shoot the latter several times.

While Gaviola slightly injured Cabañero, one of his bullets hit Kit Juliana on the chest, killing her instantly.
