Jail worker arrested in drug bust

A JOB-order employee from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) and his cohorts were arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay Busay last Saturday evening.

Glenndon Dabuco, 31, a clerk in the jail facility, allegedly had in his possession a large pack of suspected shabu and two medium packs when operatives raided one of his houses in Sitio Garahe, Busay at 7:40 p.m.

“He’s considered as a high-value target because he is working in the government,” Chief Insp. Jacinto Mandal Jr, Mabolo Police Chief, told Cebu.

Mandal said that Dabuco denied the allegations against him.

Also seized from Dabuco were two weighing scales, various equipment used to repack drugs and several drug paraphernalia.

Two other men who were present during the buy-bust were also arrested. They were identified as Mervic Magno, 28 and Roldan Arcillo, 39.

During the arrest, Arcillo attacked a policeman with an iron pipe but was later pacified by the operatives.

Both yielded two small sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Mandal said Dabuco was arrested in the house where he repacks shabu, about a hundred meters from his house.

He allegedly sources his drugs from a supplier on A. Lopez St. and covers the area of Busay and the neghboring barangays.

“Giplanohan na niya nga business. Iyang mama wala kuno kahibaw (He had his business planned out. His mother allegedly doesn’t know about it),” Mandal said.

Mandal said that the shabu confiscated from Dabuco was worth P100,000 under the Dangerous Drugs Board estimates.

Aside from drug charges, Arcillo will also face charges for direct assault, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

Before the operation against Dabuco was launched, Ferocio “Jun” Gabucan, 45, jeepney driver was caught at 7:15 on the same day.

He had in his possession several empty plastic packs used for repacking shabu and a caliber. 22 magnum with five bullets.

A drug surrenderee and a recently identified drug personality were also nabbed in Sitio Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 1 at past midnight yesterday.

Kelvin Delantes, a Tokhang surrenderee of the Fuente Police Station and Benvinido Quebete Jr., a new drug player in Barangay Sambag 1, were arrested in a buy-bust at 12:30 a.m.

Delantes can allegedly dispose of 50 to 100 grams of shabu per week. He was caught with 58 small sachets of the illegal drug.

His cohort, Quebete, had in his possession one small sachet and drug paraphernalia.

Another suspected drug pusher who was identified as Richard Delantes, 40, was caught with 22 small sachets of shabu.
