Ceres FC gets nominations in Sports Tourism Awards

CERES Negros FC (formerly Ceres-La Salle FC) has been nominated for Sports Tourism Event of the Year-Domestic and Sports Tourism Organizer of the Year-Private.

The awarding will take place during the 1st Philippine Sports Tourism Awards Night on November 22 at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

Representing Ceres Negros FC in this event are club administrator Nicolas Golez, Ceres FC competition committee head Warren Concepcion, and media officer Jerome Galunan Jr.

The nomination was based on the staging of the 3rd Ceres Cup on May 21-22, 2016 in three different venues which gathered some 6,000 players from across the country suiting up for 420 teams.

Ceres Cup started initially as the Ceres FC Friendship Cup early in 2014 and gathered 200 plus teams. Eventually it grew to 306 in May of the same year.

With the successful hosting of the 1st Ceres Cup, it further increased its participants on its second year, breaking not only its own record but wrote history by having the most number of teams participating in a single tournament.

It has been a vision of Ceres Negros FC owner and president Leo Rey Yanson to provide a football festival aimed at giving enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment.

The successful staging of Ceres Cup has become an encouragement and promotion of football development in the country, making it the most popular in terms of participation aside from contributing to the sports tourism initiatives of the province.
