Utzurrum: Zonta Club of Cebu 2 goes full blast on activities

VERY much in the swim of activities are the members of the Zonta Club of Cebu 2 as they immerse themselves in their rabid advocacy: “No to Violence Against Women and Children.”

They plan to set up a Pink Center – Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) at the Mandaue District Hospital, similar to their 19-year project at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

The Zontians, led by WCPC chairperson Dr. Elsa Basubas, paid a call to Mandaue City Mayor Luigi Quisumbing, who with Councilor Cynthia Remedio, agreed to partner with the club in the implementation of the “Gender and Development Code of Mandaue.”

Ever on the go, the ladies lost no time in holding their first activity—“Cancer Screening for Breast, Cervix and Thyroid” in Mandaue, in partnership with the Philippine Medical Women’s Assocation (PMWA). In deep appreciation, the Mandaue local government through Mayor Quisumbing presented the club with a token.

With St. Mark’s Hotel as venue, the Zontians met again for a one-day “Strategic Planning Workshop,” conducted with lively and animated camaraderie by Dr. Juanito Zuazula Jr.

Armed with an impressive background in the medical field, he also has an Internal Medicine Residency – Gov. Gallares regional training center in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

Dr. Zuazula then initiated a Personality Leadership Test. Are you a “D” (one that initiates change) or an “I”? (one that creates enthusiasm). What about an “S”? (a type that builds relationships). Or last but not least, a “C”? (a type that pursues excellence).

At the end of the day, we certainly knew ourselves better, to work better together, right?
