Organic farmers festival sales hit P4.1 million

EXHIBITORS at the ongoing 11th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival (NIOFF) in Bacolod City will likely surpass last year’s sales of P4.2 million as more farmers and producers are participating this year.

As of Thursday night, total sales reached of P4.1 million since the five-day festival opened on November 15.

On Tuesday, sales reached P662,867.50 while on Wednesday, the figures totaled P550,598.

Most of the sales were generated from fresh and processed organic products, the OPA reported. Enjoying brisk sales are farmer-producers of organic herbs and ornamentals, fertilizers, and non-food along with exhibitors of natural and environment-friendly products.

The third day sales totaled P2.93 million, with purchases of utility tractor, rice reaper, and cultivator from Supertrade as well as health products from Izumio hydrogenated drinking water amounting to P2.5 million.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. reiterated his invitation to Negrenses to patronize local organic producers and buy their products at the Negros First Cyber Centre parking area.

This year’s theme is “Getting Connected Through Regenerative Organic Agriculture,” which highlights the efforts to strengthen the connections among industry stakeholders and members in promoting regenerative organic agriculture to protect and improve resources.

The 11th NIOFF features exhibits, displays and sale of organic food and other organic products, lectures on different organic best practices, and innovations.
