CEBU City will organize a festive lunch for Miss Universe candidates on January 17, 2017 at JPark Resort and Waterpark as part of the Philippines hosting of the pageant.
"I am pleased to announce that Cebu City has been granted this very special opportunity to play a role in the Miss Universe, bringing us to international recognition," said Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
According to Arthur Lo, JPark's Corporate Liaison Officer, the hotel will be hosting five events under the Miss Universe Pageant on January 17, 2017. The events include the general assembly, swimsuit presentation, festive lunch, dinner, and an after party.
Mayor Osmeña clarified that the hosting will also be funded by the private sector, however, did not state who the private groups are.
Famous Cebuano dishes will be showcased during the whole day event. Osmeña said the private sector will help organize the event.
Aside from the festive lunch and dinner, a mini fashion show featuring the works of local fashion designers will be a highlight with pre-selected Miss Universe candidates judging the event.
The event will be open to the public for a fee. Tickets will be sold for the separate events. JPark will soon announce special room rates and packages for the Miss Universe visit in Cebu.
rThis is the third time the Philippines will be hosting the Miss Universe Pageant. The first was on 1974 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
