Lizares: Their love started with a chat
SOMETIMES we really don’t know what destiny has in store for us. Take the case of Jane.
Since we live in a cyberworld with the internet bridging continents through call and text, romance started with a chat for Jane and Andre.
For about two years, Andre Ronaldi of Quebec, Canada and Mary Jane Dientes of Bago City, Negros Occidental were in constant communication through Skype, Viber, and Messenger. The getting-to-know-you phase metamorphosed into online dating. Then familiarity bred romance and the proposal came after two years.
The relationship of distant shores had its ebbs and tides. Jane was beyond belief and could not comprehend, nor in her wildest dreams imagined that indeed this suitor would come to the Philippines to see her, more so, to ask her hand in marriage.
Initially, Jane was not an advocate or an enabler of chats with foreigners especially one she hasn’t seen in person. However, the chats were pleasant. Slowly, she loosened up to Andre. Talking with him was comfortable and without knowing it, she looked forward to hearing and seeing him in the small screen daily.
She thought herself incapable of giving and receiving so much love. But God intervened and Andre journeyed almost 24 hours to see his lady love.
The fairy tale did become a reality and the engaged couple spent quality time knowing and learning more about each other before the big day.
It was a very unique invitation I received of their wedding. Whoever conceptualized a passport with a boarding pass is quite innovative. It is cute.
The marriage vows were solemnized by Judge Anita Chua and the day was spent in merriment by the two hearts who conquered distance and time joining themselves in a holy vow.
Andre has already flown back home to Canada to arrange for Jane’s papers. Again the wires are burning for the two lovebirds who are missing each other tremendously. That is the world we live in today. But Jane and Andre have proven that true love conquers boundaries.
