Woman washing clothes in Inayawan hit by stray bullet

A 56-YEAR-OLD woman landed in the hospital after a stray bullet hit her house in Sitio Silayan, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City last Friday afternoon.

Police said Lucrisia Lumactao Iwayan was doing the laundry when she got hit in the back of her body.

Her younger sister, Angelita Lumactao Cayme, was with her when the incident happened.

Cayme told investigators that they heard a gunfire in the neighborhood while they were washing their clothes. She later saw blood dripping from Iwayan’s back.

Iwayan did not feel anything at first, but later grimaced in pain.

Cayme, with the help of her neighbors, rushed Iwayan to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, where she is now confined.

Police are still investigating who fired the gun.

Meanwhile, a 77-year-old widower was found dead in his house in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City at 3 p.m. last Friday.

Police identified the person as Dominador Geniston Salinas, whose body was in an advanced state of decomposition when discovered by the police and tanods.

Cirilo Insao, the old man’s neighbor, noticed a foul smell coming from the house last Monday, but he ignored it.

It took him four days to inform the tanods about the odor when the smell from Salinas’s house was already intolerable.

Investigation showed Salinas was living alone in the room. He was physically weak due to several illnesses and his advanced age.

The body of Salinas will be subjected to autopsy to determine if there was foul play behind his death.
