JASMINE Curtis-Smith turned emotional when she accepted the Best Actress trophy at the 2016 Cinema One Originals Film Festival.

Held Sunday evening at the Dolphy Theater in ABS-CBN Compound, Quezon City, the 22-year-old actress bagged the award for her role in "Baka Bukas."

In her acceptance speech, Curtis dedicated her win to the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.

"Mabuhay ang LGBT community! We have a voice. I am with you guys whether I am LGBT or not, I am with you. I stand with you guys and I will be with you all the way," she said.

Written and directed by Samantha Lee, "Baka Bukas" tells the story of Alex, played by Curtis, who is out to everyone except to her best friend, Jess, portrayed by Louise delos Reyes.

The film also received the People's Choice Award.
