Jodi Sta. Maria loses to German actress at 2016 iEmmys

JODI Sta. Maria failed to take home the Best Actress trophy at the 44th International Emmy Awards.

German actress Christiane Paul wins the award for her 2015 TV movie "Unterm Radar" (Under the Radar) during the gala night held Tuesday morning (Manila time) at Hilton hotel in New York City.

Sta. Maria, who was nominated for her portrayal of the iconic television character Amor Powers in the 2015 remake of "Pangako Sa 'Yo" (The Promise) described her whole iEmmys experience as a dream come true.

"This moment is a proof that dreams do come true," she said during the iEmmys Nominee Medal Ceremony.

She thanked her mother network ABS-CBN and the people who worked behind the series.

Even though she failed to win the award, the 34-year-old actress wowed everyone in her white custom Mark Bumgarner gown.

Another ABS-CBN entry, "Bridges of Love," failed to take home the Best Telenovela award in the competition.

Starring Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino, “Bridges of Love” competed against two series from Brazil and another show from Canada.

The iEmmy awards night was hosted by Scottish actor/singer Alan Cumming. (Sunnex)
