Pelayo: The importance of institutionalized projects

A THREE-year term is relatively short for a local official to lead and govern a municipality or even a city. Even in commerce and financial operations of investing, business experts usually consider long-term if above three years. Yes, a man can do so much in a day but there are tangible projects that can only be accomplished beyond a term of an elected official. There must be continuity on a noble project even after the politician who spearheaded it has already maximized his tenure. If a new face would suddenly replace an outgoing leader, he or she should persist on sustaining the good practice of the old. Otherwise, these projects will only be put to waste.

A perfect example was my experience at this McDonald’s in Clark main gate near the gas station. We’ve booked for a birthday party last July for November; that’s 4 months in advance. We transacted with the manager on duty and we thought everything was in place. Twenty days before my son’s birthday, we found out that our supposed party has not been officially booked. To make it worst, someone has already booked on our date; it showed that these people booked last October. Yes, mine was earlier by more than 2 months. And that was just the start of our stressful preparation for my son’s party. Unlike the other McDo branches, the managers on this particular food chain inside Clark near the main gate do not endorse communication to their reliever. They seem to not also log their transactions. Good thing we got an official receipt.

Another case was this local baker who sells monay like pancakes because it was that good. But when the baker decided to sell his bakery to someone else, the used to be delicious monay together with other bread were not the same anymore.

The same thing applies in the government. There should be perpetuity in all the noble projects of the unit. And by saying this, I do not mean naming a public structure after a local politician.

R2 is “sikistysix”

The Wonder Boy of Pampanga, my former Supreme Commander in the Order of the Knights of Rizal, Reghis M. Romero II never forgets his roots as his friends, classmates and batch mates in Republic Central Colleges welcomed him in his home city in Angeles to celebrate his birthday. Romero or RII also invited the local media including the media chapter of the KoR Angeles, and the members of Metro Angeles City Journalists Association, Incorporated, on his post-birthday party. R2 is also a brother in the Knights of Columbus Holy Sepulchre Council and he was one of the main donors who renovated the Apung Mamacalulu shrine. May God bless him always.
