PCT, D'DS share Acosta Cup lead

THE Philippine College of Technology (PCT) and D' Davao Survivors shared the lead of the team standings in the recent resumption of the 13th Acosta Cup Ladies Football Tournament held at the Tionko field in Davao City.

PCT thrashed University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao, 13-1, as Joyce Semacio netted five goals and Nathalie Kate Tabamo added four to lead scoring for the team. The other scorers were Renabel Camangyan, Rheza Angelou Caminade, Aiza Gravador, and Jessa Felizardo.

Rosebie May Sanchez knocked in UP Mindanao's only goal.

D'DS, meanwhile, drew with Aguilas Dabaw FC, 2-2. Patricia Francisco of D'DS started the ball rolling with a goal in the 20th minute followed up by teammate's Michelle Alfeche in the 56th.

Cherry Mae Vilchez and Celina Simone Jaldon, however, answered back-to-back goals for Aguilas Dabaw in the 60th and 78th minutes, respectively.

D'DS earlier blanked Soya FC, 8-0, while PCT beat Soya, 2-0 in the bootfest sanctioned by the Davao Region Football Association and organized by the Office of Davao City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta.

PCT and D'DS each tallied 16 points with identical five goals and one draw. PCT has one loss while D'DS recorded two defeats.

Aguilas Dabaw (4-1-1) followed with 13 points while 2-1-4 Soya earned seven points and struggling UP Mindanao has yet to win after losing in eight outings. (MLSA)
