13 provinces now under signal 1 due to 'Marce'

MANILA -- Thirteen provinces are now under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 as Tropical Depression Marce maintains its strength, the state weather bureau said Thursday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised signal 1 over Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Oriental and Camiguin.

Pagasa said estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 200-kilometer (km) diameter of the tropical depression.

Marce is expected to make landfall in Surigao province Friday afternoon or early evening.

It was last spotted at 240 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

Marce has maximum winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 kph. (PNA)
