Capitol distributes livestock to typhoon affected farmers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The provincial government of Pampanga in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) distributed livestock to farmers affected by recent Typhoon Lando.

Acting Governor Dennis Pineda along with Board Member Ananias Canlas, Jr. and Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Augusto Baluyut spearheaded the distribution held at the Provincial Veterinary (PVET) Office, PEO compound in barangay Sindalan.

According to Baluyot, the distribution of 50 range chickens, 22 goats and 11 lambs to the farmer beneficiaries is part of the Rehabilitation Assistance Program of the Capitol and DA.

During a short program, the acting governor urged the recipients to use the livestock they received to improve their livelihood.

A farmers association in San Luis town received six goats.

Marlen Bernardino, president of the Tabun San Jose Farmers Association lauded the Capitol and the governor for the worthwhile project.

“Maganda po ang programa ng kapitolyo dahil natutulungan nila kami lalo na nung naapaktuhan kami ng bagyo,” Bernardino said.

Baluyot said another batch of 30 cows will be distributed to other farmer beneficiaries.

Apart from the animal dispersal, the provincial government also gives further support to farmers through projects like, vegetable production, and farm machineries assistance. (Liezel Cayanan/Pampanga PIO)
