NDF extends condolences to former Cuban President

THE National Democratic Front of the Philippines extends their condolences over the death of former Cuban president, Fidel Castro.

New People’s Army’s (Melito Glor Command) Spokesperson Jaime “Ka Diego” Padilla expressed their grief over the revolutionary’s death in a press statement posted on their official website, cpp.ph, on Saturday.

“Nakikiramay ang rebolusyonaryong kilusan sa Pilipinas sa mga mamamayang Cubano sa pagkamatay ni Fidel Castro, ang isa sa mga nagsilbing tanglaw ng rebolusyong Cuba upang maihatid ito sa tagumpay, hanggang sa pagtataguyod ng sosyalistang konstruksyon sa Cuba (The revolutionary movement in the country extends condolences to the Cuban citizens for the death of Fidel Castro, who is one of those who led the Cuban revolution),” Padilla said.

Padilla said that Castro has been a strong friend, an ally and a leader of the citizens of Cuba in fighting the dominion of imperialism in the whole world.

Padilla said that the freedom of Cuba is a proof that the colonization of different countries by imperialists can be defeated.

“Ang patuloy na pagtataguyod ng sosyalismo sa Cuba ay patunay na nananatiling abante ang kaisipang Marxismo-Leninismo-Maoismo na siyang tanglaw sa pagpapalaya sa buong daigdig (The continuous socialist movementin Cuba is proof that the Marxism-Leninism-Maoism principles are moving forward for worldwide freedom),”he said.

Padilla said the whole revolutionary forces in the Philippines is ecstatic with the strength of the Cuban revolution and added that Fidel Castro did not bow down to the power of US Imperialism until his death.

Malacañan Palace through the office of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) also extended their sincerest condolences to the family of Fidel Castro.

"The passing of former President Castro will surely be felt by the people of Cuba and the world. We are one with the family of Mr. Castro, the Cuban Government, and the Cuban nation during this period of deep mourning,” the palace said in a statement posted on the PCOO’s website.

The Palace also remembered Castro as a revolutionary who reasserted his nation’s dignity and self-worth when he stood up against the west and capitalism.

The Palace also lauded Castro's contribution in health, education and literacy, saying that his achievements in social development such as establishing a universal health care and providing free education became models of many developing nations with limited fiscal resources.

Castro, a communist revolutionary and one of the world’s longest-serving rulers, died at the age of 90 after surviving 11 US administrations and hundreds of assassination attempts.

His death also earned various reactions from leaders worldwide.
