Valle: De Lima’s dilemma is her own making

"NO WOMAN, whoever or whatever she may be, whether a sitting senator or a humble secretary, deserves to be betrayed, to be treated with so much disrespect and without dignity, before the public eye, by any man she is with or had a relationship with," De Lima said through CNN Philippines.

Clearly, she must be trying to get the sympathy of the public with these utterances. The hypocrisy of it all is plainly written all over her façade of helplessness.

When she entered into a relationship with a married man, did it ever occur to her that by doing so a family will be broken, relationships destroyed and there will be psychological pain that she might have caused the wife and the children of her “lover” with their tryst?

And being a woman of stature and supposedly of high intelligence as a professional, it seems preposterous for her to be playing naïve, as it is hardly believable that the former secretary of Justice and now a member of the highest house of legislators in the Philippines have succumbed to such a vain whim or plain base desires of the flesh.

While I certainly agree with what she said, and this should be true for other ordinary women, that no woman deserves such a treatment of disrespect and ridicule, had she given justice to the sanctity of her duties at the office of the Department of Justice which was tainted by her immorality? Or is it a common practice in government service (as many already believe) to be a crook and not faithful to one’s duty?

This dereliction of duty is what makes then Secretary De Lima unworthy of respect from majority Filipinos who now condemns her position and the government she serves.

The mere thought of the hefty drug-dealing business that was discovered to be at its height at the supposedly correctional facility of the Justice Department during her term as head of the department makes her the wicked woman ever.

Think what drugs do to Philippine society at present. It destroys the very fabric of society, that is, the family, especially in largely depressed areas where people have become desperate and disillusioned with the gruelling poverty that has gripped Filipinos to the very core.

The evidences that has so far come out from different sources should be enough to pin De Lima down but legislators seems to be enjoying the saucy part of the elicit affair between the former secretary of justice and her driver cum body guard lover.

The hearing process at the House of Representatives and the Senate could make it to the grizzliest exercise of loathsome and useless efforts that continues to bleed the national coffers and the citizens dry.

And yet Filipinos suffer daily the effects of the “war on drugs” being waged by the Duterte administration that is hell bent on rooting out every single “zombie” addicts in the metro and elsewhere.

That is why justice must be meted out now on those who has command responsibility over its proliferation, and that includes the former administration of Benigno Simeon Aquino III, former Secretary De Lima and all the President’s men who have done nothing but perpetuate this situation during his term.

Justice now for the victims of this unjust system, before the unscrupulous and the wicked among legislators muddles the issue and make a parody of the clean-up efforts of President Digong!
