THE recommendation for the dismissal of 174 cops who tested positive for illegal drugs use is awaiting the signature of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa, in a press conference Monday, said he will sign the dismissal orders as recommended by the PNP Internal Affairs Service (IAS), which conducted investigation on the "police scalawags".
"Mayroong text sa akin ang IAS. Mayroon na daw siyang sinubmit na lahat ng positive sa drug test, for my signature na lang, para for dismissal. Dismiss namin lahat ng positive sa drug test. Idi-dismiss namin ngayon," he said.
"Ngayon pag-akyat ko, pagkuha ko ng papeles pirmahan ko para mabawasan yung sakit ng ulo sa atin," Dela Rosa added.
The PNP chief said the dismissal of the erring policemen went through proper procedure. He said he will prevent the dismissed policemen from being reinstated to the police service.
"Huwag na kayo mag-attempt na magpapa-reinstate dahil haharangin ko ang reinstatement ninyo," he said.
The dismissal order included a Chief Inspector and a non-uniformed employee who tested positive for illegal drugs.
Chief Superintendent Aurelio Trampe, PNP Crime Laboratory director, said 159,129 police personnel underwent random drug testing. (Sunnex)
