Yuletide activities in Baguio set

THE Christmas revelry is being anticipated.

An excited mountain folk is awaiting the annual lantern parade, traditional the lighting of Baguio Christmas Tree as well as Fireworks to signal the season.

Councilor Elmer Datuin, Committee Chair on Tourism said that there would be a lantern parade spearheaded by Saint Louis University from Session Road to Athletic Bowl on the 1st day of December participated by the Baguio City Government officials and employees as well as private stakeholders.

Datuin hopes to have flawless activities during the December 1 opening and with technical glitches.

During the opening, a concert with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Combo and other local bands at Upper Session Road at 7:00 PM onwards is set.

On that day, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) Grand Christmas Bazaar at the Melvin Jones Football Grounds will open and will extend until January 1, 2017.

Meanwhile on the second week of December the opening of the newly refurbished Malcom Square will also commence, seeing a wider and clutter free People’s Park.

The city has scheduled the following Yuletide activities; the Quest for the Baguio Christmas Family 2016 and Bahag Airsoft Tournament at Ibaloy Park, Burnham Park both on December 3 to 4; Baguio Volkswagen Week from December 5 to 11; Quest for the Baguio Lucky Foreign Visitors from December 9 to 11; UP Pasiklaban and Torch Parade on December 9 at the Main Thoroughfare; Christmas Cantata on December 13 to 14 at the University of Baguio; Quest for the Baguio Lucky Christmas Baby 2016 on December 25; Baguio Balikbayan & CAR Sportsmen Day on December 27 and 30 at Sunshine Park; and Countdown to New Year 2017 on December 31 at 12:00 midnight in Melvin Jones.
