Limlingan: Caugiran at the helm

LAST week, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President Alexander Cauguiran has announced that the Philippines’ flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will be launching its flight at the Clark International Airport (CIA).

According to Caugiran, PAL President Jaime Bautista gave the nod that starting December 16 of this year, the country’s airline will commence its daily flights to Caticlan, the nearest airline gateway for those who are going to the world-class beaches of Boracay Island.

By early next year, more local flights of PAL will be added at the said airport and an international flight to South Korea.

While it may seem to be ordinary for non-airline travellers, the announcements are good news to tourists-jetsetters and more than that to Clark, to businesses and industries inside and out of the Freeport and to the national and local governments in the country.

The commencement of flights of PAL at CIA means that the said flag carrier has the trust and confidence to the said airport and that it sees the latter’s potential to be developed further as an international airline travel hub in a few years time.

I see a good start for CIAC President Caugiran who is now on the helm of operations of the airport while pushing further for the full utilization of the CIA as a major airport of the country next to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila.

Caugiran, if we may recall, has been advocating for quite a long time now, for the furtherance of the CIA’s development. He has been vocal on the need to develop Clark for various important reasons, among which is helping for the decongestion of Metro Manila.

Further, if the utilization of Clark would be finally made into full blast, residents from Luzon and even northern Metro Manila would have easy access to airline travel and will be spared from endless traffic jams in roads leading to the NAIA.

The CIA has the right national government administration with Duterte in Malacañang. The President seems to be fulfilling his promises of bringing development at Clark as he gave some marching orders of putting different infrastructure development not only at CIA but in the said Freeport as well.

The CIA has likewise the right administration in its president, Alex Caugiran. The CIAC President has now the right leader to lead the said airport for its development and full utilization. In short, the CIA is now in better hands.
