‘Shootout’ kills 2 drug suspects

POLICE killed two suspected drug personalities in Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Guinacot, Danao City past 2 p.m. yesterday.

The suspects were identified as Omar Miculo Baguio and Rey Andrew Banzon.

The team led by Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos conducted a buy-bust against Baguio, who was with Banzon, his alleged cohort.

The suspects reportedly pulled out their guns when they realized they were dealing with police and started shooting.

The officers shot back and hit them several times.

Baguio and Banzon were rushed to a public hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

Two .38 revolvers, three bullets, three empty shells and a large pack of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P123,900 were found inside the suspects’ car.

Last Monday, three men were arrested during a buy-bust in Sitio Hawod, Barangay Bulacao in Talisay City.

Dawn operation

Operatives of the Talisay City Police Station led by Supt. Emerson Dante arrested Cresencio Gabuya, 29, who was caught selling suspected shabu inside his house around 3 a.m.

Based on the police report, Gabuya, a resident of Barangay Ward 3 in Minglanilla, was the subject of the operation after local police received information about his operations in Sitio Hawod.

Also arrested were Luisito Bacus, 45; and Rucci Fausal, 38, both residents in the area.

Recovered from the suspects were 21 small packs and a medium pack of suspected shabu, P400 worth of the buy-bust money and a motorcycle owned by Fausal.

The drugs recovered from the three suspects have a combined weight of 6.44 grams and have an estimated market value of P75,992.

The suspects are detained at the Talisay City Police Station.

They will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

In another operation, a suspected big-time drug pusher, who eluded several arrest attempts, was finally caught in Barangay Tabon, Vallehermos, Negros Oriental.

No bail

Operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) 7 captured Joel Española Gentica, a high-value target in the drug list of Police Regional Office 7, last Saturday afternoon.

The team led by Supt. Joel Quintero, the RSOG chief, implemented arrest warrants for Gentica’s pending illegal drugs cases.

Last Jan. 19, Gentica escaped when Provincial Intelligence Branch operatives raided his house in Barangay Inuboran, City of Naga, Cebu.

At least P1.1 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in his residence.

The team arrested 30 suspected junkies during the operation.

Gentica’s house was reportedly surrounded by small huts where junkies would hold a private pot session.

In the operation conducted by the RSOG operatives, three warrants of arrest were implemented against Gentica and all of these are not bailable.
