Elizabeth Baker assumes as OIC of Barangay 35

BARANGAY 35 number one councilwoman Elizabeth Baker officially assumed as officer-in-charge following the arrest of village chief Manuel Huelar Jr. in a drug bust Tuesday inside a pension house in Bacolod City.

Baker said on Thursday that Department of Interior and Local Government-Bacolod officer-in-charge Carmelo Orbista instructed her to handle all the transactions of Barangay 35.

Huelar was arrested by agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and charged for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

He is detained at Police Station 8 in Barangay Tangub.

Baker said they are hopeful that Huelar will stay strong to face the charges.

She added that she will do her best to serve her constituents, adding that they will hold a regular session today to discuss the programs and projects of Barangay 35.

Orbista had earlier said that after the filling of cases against Huelar, he will no longer receive a salary.
