Davao City Police Office on high alert anew

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) are on high alert after the country’s terror alert level was raised to three due to the foiled attack near the US Embassy last Monday, November 28.

DCPO Director Senior Superintendent Michael John Dubria said in an interview Friday, December 2, said the 12 police station commanders in Davao City were already briefed to conduct strict patrol on their areas of responsibility.

"The commanders are already instructed to perform strict inspections on our checkpoints, Oplan Sita," Dubria added.

In Oplan Sita, authorities will flag down suspicious vehicles and will request to check documents both for the car and the riders.

However, the Palace has earlier released a statement that they guarantee that the Filipino people will still have a "normal life" amid the terror alert level 3 announcement.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the terror alert level 3 is consistent with the declaration of state of national emergency declared by President Rodrigo Duterte after the Davao bombing last September.

Andanar, however, stressed that there will be no change in the way the public "live, work, or conduct business."

"We assure the public that there will be no disruption in their normal lives even if we have raised our security level in the same vein that there was no change in the way they live, work, or conduct business now that the country is under state of national emergency on the account of lawless violence," Andanar said.

The PNP placed the country in alert three to confirm with its standard operating procedures, which put the whole police force in extreme alert for terrorists who might commit similar acts of planting bombs in Metro Manila.

The declaration would allow the PNP to heighten their mobile checkpoints, increase intelligence activities and law enforcement operations.
