11 people injured in police car accident

A POLICE vehicle carrying prisoners, who will face their cases in court, hit an electric post and smashed a tree, injuring all 11 persons inside including policemen, suspects, social worker and driver, around 9:40 a.m., Friday, December 2, at Calinan District, Davao City.

Davao City Police Office spokesperson Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey said the vehicle, Mobile Patrol 34, was delivering five suspects accompanied by four policemen and a social worker of the Davao City Social Services and Development Office to the Hall of Justice in Ecoland Subdivision, Matina.

She added that the driver, Rodrigo Zamora of the Calinan Police Precinct, lost control of the vehicle and smashed the Davao Light and Power Company post number 1557225 at Purok 2, Joaquin village, this city.

The social worker is Ceejay Autida and Police Officer (PO) 1 is Alex Gallo, while the prisoners were not immediately identified.

The rest were only identified as Senior Police Officer Cagaanan, PO3 Cenabre, and PO1 Tripoli.

The vehicle's speed was enough to throw the car toward the opposite lane and hit a coconut tree after hitting the electric post from the other side.

All 11 were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.

The Calinan Police is still conducting further investigation on the incident.
