13 barangays in Cordillera remains MJ infested

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- To ensure the Police Regional Office – Cordillera is on its right path of eliminating all forms of illegal drugs in the region, regional director Chief Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona and staff personally visited and validated marijuana communities in the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao and Mt. Province.

Eleven barangays in Benguet were validated to have the presence of marijuana plantation.

These includes Tacadang, Palina and Poblacion, all in the Municipality of Kibungan; Gadang, Sagubo, Belengbelis, and Pudong in the Municipality of Kapangan; Kayapa, Sinacbat and Bagu in Bakun, and Barangay Baculungan in the Municipality of Buguias.

In Mt. Province, Barangay Saclit in the municipality of Sadanga and Barangay Namatec in Sabangan while in the province of Ifugao, the lone barangay affected with marijuana only in Barangay Ahin in the municipality of Tinoc.

Sarona said those barangays which will be cleared because of the full cooperation and support of the LGU and members of the communities will have a high chance to avail of the government project especially from the PAMANA Projects of the OPPAP.
