NEGROS Occidental Second District Board Member Salvador Escalante said yesterday the provincial government is waiting for the go-signal from Malacañang for the release of the Capitol employees’ extra bonus.
“Capitol is ready to give that to the employees because Governor Alfredo Marañon believes that bonus is a great equalizer. No matter the salary grade of the employees, they will all receive the same amount of bonus,” said Escalante, chairman of committee on appropriations, budget, finance, and ways and means.
He noted in the previous administrations, they granted extra bonus like the GMA Bonus and the PNoy bonus.
“We do not want that we will later refund the bonus given to us if we will give it without legal basis. So we will just wait because I believe in the wisdom of our governor,” Escalante said.
Last year, the Capitol employees received extra bonus of P35,000 each and were also granted additional P15,000 each in January for the awards received by the province.
Escalante added that with the release of differential for the implementation of the first tranche of the Salary Standardization Law IV, the Capitol employees can expect their 14th month pay to follow soon.
