Metropolis: The 30 Days of Giving

UNWRAPPING the holiday season with the spirit of sharing, Radisson Blu Cebu’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting of its towering 32-feet white and blue tree as well as the launch of The 30 Days of Giving, was truly a warm welcome to begin the holiday season.

Guests dressed in cocktail chic that evening, this very Christmas-y event held at the grand lobby of the Radisson Blu Hotel featured a classical concert together with leading musical theater artist Arman Ferrer, sopranist Iona Ventocilla, University of the Visayas Chorale, Charlene Nogra and the world-renowed Mandaue Children’s Choir conducted by maestro Dennis Sugarol. The ceremony was led by Elizabeth Sy (president of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp.), Hilario Davide III (Cebu Province governor), Jobel Davide, Peggy Angeles (executive vice president of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp.) and Laurent Boisdron (Radisson Blu Cebu’s general manager).

The launch of the 30 Days of Giving was a very important project of the hotel itself together with partner organizations namely Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital Children’s Ward, My Refuge House (an after-care shelter for rescued survivors of sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking), Island Rescue Organisation (IRO) for rescued animals and Basadours (a group of volunteer ambassadors for reading and storytelling). For every RSVP confirmation, a pair of slippers was donated to the Mainit Elementary School and Alpaco Elementary School in Naga City (the evening concluded with over 300 pairs of slippers!) Guests also made some donations by purchasing the Signature Afternoon High Tea or some exquisite gingerbread houses. Books and toys on the other hand were gladly accepted at the Giving Corner.

Radisson Blu Cebu is located along Sergio Osmeña Boulevard corner Juan Luna Avenue, Cebu City.
