‘Let’s Fiesta’ bids farewell after three years

AFTER more than three years of discovering the country’s magnificent sceneries, colorful festivals and delicious native delicacies, GMA’s locally produced travel and culture program Let’s Fiesta bids goodbye to loyal Kapuso viewers as it airs its final episode this Sunday, May 31.

Let’s Fiesta, the “only travel show that focuses on the celebration of Philippine festivals,” as senior program manager for regional entertainment TV Jocelyn Bautista-Pacleb puts it, presents for its last feature Pangasinan’s Pistay Dayat Festival.

Celebrated in the capital town of Lingayen, Pistay Dayat is a two-week gathering of all the coastal towns in Pangasinan as thanksgiving for the year’s bountiful harvest from the sea. After joining in the revelry, Let’s Fiesta host and comedian John Feir takes viewers to some of the province’s unknown yet worth-discovering sites.

John shares the reason why he loved hosting the show: “Ito ‘yung natututo ako sa iba’t ibang mga bagay tungkol sa mga lugar, tao, at kultura. Dito rin sa Let’s Fiesta, natutunan ko ‘yung value ng pakikisama sa mga taong nami-meet ko.”

Given John’s travelling experience, he surely now has a few “essential tips” for first-timers and old-timers alike. “Know the place. Be fit. Makisama sa mga taong nami-meet mo. Enjoy and try everything that you can,” he enumerates. One more thing that’s very vital is for one to have a traveller’s checklist.

“Importante ‘yun, para walang makalimutan,” he concludes.

Watch Let’s Fiesta’s final episode this Sunday, May 31 at 7 a.m., airing via GMA’s regional channels in Bacolod, Ilocos, Bicol, Dagupan, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, General Santos and Cagayan de Oro. (PR)
