Motorist dies in Bacolod collision

AN UNIDENTIFIED man died after his motorcycle collided with a passenger jeepney at Burgos Extension Road in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City on Sunday night.

Investigation showed the motorcycle swerved to the other lane that resulted to the collision with a jeepney loaded with passengers around 7:20 p.m.

The victim was brought to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

The jeepney was driven by Ricky Villarin, 42, of Barangay Alangilan.


The driver of the truck that killed two girls and injured another in a road accident in Bago City on Sunday was released from detention on Monday.

Superintendent David Cachumbo Jr., chief of Bago City Police Station, said Leopoldo Pilado Jr., 63, of Barangay Tuguis, Hinigaran town was freed after a settlement was agreed between both parties.

He will no longer face charges, Cachumbo added.

Pilado’s 10-wheeler truck loaded with sugarcane sideswiped Angel Marie Casidsid, 12, and Daniela Robles, 13, who died in the accident. Injured was 13-year old Janella Indonela, who is now stable at the hospital.

The victims were on their way to a church when the accident happened.
