33 schools approved to hike tuition

ONLY 33 out of the 37 schools that applied for tuition increase were approved by the Commission on Higher Education (Ched).

Based on the list from the Ched website, schools that will increase on both tuition and other school fees are:

* Agro Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines

* Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku

* Assumption College of Davao

* DMMA College of Southern Philippines

* Davao Vision College

* Jose Maria College

* University of Mindanao main campus

* St. Mary's College of Tagum

* John Paul II College of Davao

* Interface College

* Holy Cross College of Calinan

* Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship

* Joji Ilagan Career Center

* Mindanao Medical Foundation College

* Cor Jesu College

* Ateneo de Davao University

* San Pedro College

* Arriesgado College Foundation

* Saint Peter's College of Toril Inc.

* University of Immaculate Conception

* Tagum Doctor's College

* University of Mindanao Digos

* University of Mindanao Penaplata

* Holy Cross of Sasa

* University of Mindanao Bansalan

* Serapion R. Basalo Memorial Foundation Colleges

* University of Mindanao Tagum

* STI College Davao

* Davao Medical School Foundation

Davao Central College will only increase its tuition, while Assumption College of Nabunturan, Holy Cross of Davao College and Philippine Women College will increase in other school fees.

The data also showed that the tuition hike in the region averages to about 22.2 percent, while other school fees are at 33.90 percent.

But the other school fees average is from a no increase range up to as high as 297.83 percent applied for by the Philippine Women’s College of Davao.

The highest tuition increase is by Ateneo de Davao University, which has been approved to increase tuition by 58.75 percent. (KGL)
