Huelar remains confined; buddy hospitalized, too

WHILE Barangay 35 village chief Manuel Huelar Jr. of Bacolod City is confined at South Bacolod General Hospital (SBGH), his companion Christian Joseph Mijares was also brought to a hospital after suffering from diarrhea inside the custodial facility of Police Station 8.

Huelar was charged for sale and possession of drugs while Mijares was charged for conspiracy after they were both arrested in a drug bust inside a pension house at Barangay Singcang-Airport on November 28.

Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Jr., chief of Police Station 8, said that Mijares was confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) on Monday afternoon.

Benoman said Mijares’s condition is already stable and is being guarded by personnel of Police Station 8 at the hospital. He does not yet know how long Mijares will be confined, he added.

On Huelar’s medical condition, Benoman said he is still waiting for the doctor’s diagnosis.

Huelar is being guarded by policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region at SBGH since Sunday. He was first rushed to CLMMRH after he had an asthma attack and was brought to SBGH after he suffered vomiting inside the detention cell.
