8 reasons to celebrate the holidays at Kandaya

USHER in Christmas and New Year in paradise amid sandy shores, swaying tropical trees and panoramic views of magnificent sunrises, sunsets and the glistening Visayas sea. If these are still not enough reasons, here are eight more why to stay at Kandaya Resort from Dec. 24- Jan. 1, 2017:

Coconut harvesting. Witness first-hand how coconut is harvested at the resort and meet Alan, the man, who climbs the trees in lightning speed to serve guests the freshest buko juice, and who possesses the skills to harvest the finest of tuba, a wine made from the sap collected from the young unexpanded flowers of the coconut.

Active-ities. Stay active with numerous activities set up for the period from Boot Camp, circuit training, stretching classes, beach volleyball, power walks, water aerobics, yoga and Kandaya’s very own Amazing Race.

Horseback riding for children and adults. The Pony Club is educational and fun for children. Along with riding a pony, kids will be taught how to groom one. Kuwadra, the only horseback riding facility within a resort, has a stable that holds four beautiful horses and two friendly ponies with a spacious riding arena for guided riding lessons and a trail through coconut trees down to the shoreline.

Christmas activities for kids. For the holidays, Kandaya has prepared various activities to keep the kids occupied from ginger bread decorating, art attack sessions and a treasure hunt.

Island day trip. Discover world-renowned Malapascua Island while basking in privacy at the resort’s private 200-meter beach front featuring powdery white sand and clear, turquoise waters that graduate into deep blue hues. Scheduled group day trips on Dec. 26, 28, 30 and Jan. 1, 2017 include a barbecue lunch, chef and butler service and snorkeling at the nearby Coral Garden marine sanctuary. Private tours may be arranged.

Holiday treats. Indulge in a multiple choice, four-course dinner for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and a Christmas turkey menu for Christmas dinner, an Italian spread on the 28th and a culinary journey to Thailand on the 29th, featuring dishes by a Thai chef-trained culinary team at Kusina Restaurant. Kusina prides itself in its “farm to table” philosophy, using locally sourced seafood and freshly picked in-house organic produce for its dishes. After dinner treats include karaoke on the 24th and drink mixing at Datu Lounge on the 27th.

New Year’s Eve party. Drumbeaters are set to usher in the celebrations on the 31st with live entertainment courtesy of a strolling trio. To add sparkle to the festivities, a Champagne sabering session, a technique for opening Champagne bottle with a saber, will be conducted. The Year Eve’s Party will feature a sumptuous dessert buffet to sweeten up the rest of the year and will be highlighted by a grand raffle, countdown and fireworks.

Hangover cures. Start the New Year with special prescription recovery drinks at the Hangover Clinic on the first or visit the Daya Spa where skillful, healing hands bring back a state of balance and well-being.
