PRO-Northern Mindanao to have new leadership

THE Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao will be having new leaders after its two top officials were ordered reassigned to the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) effective Tuesday, December 20.

Chief Superintendent Danilo Maligalig, the outgoing PRO-Northern Mindanao deputy director for administration, said he will be the incoming deputy director for administration of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) while regional director Chief Superintendent Noel Constantino will be the incoming director of the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR).

Maligalig said Senior Superintendent Joseph Adnol, chief of plans and programs of DPCR, will take his post, while Superintendent Agripino Javier of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao will replace Constantino.

"RD's (regional director's) reassignment is considered a promotion as he will occupy a two-star position. Mine is a position of higher responsibility considering that the CIDG is at the forefront of the anti-illegal drugs and criminality campaign plan," Maligalig said.

PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Superintendent Surki Sereñas said the relief and reassignment order is part of the normal movement of the PNP organization due to retirement of key officers at the national headquarters.

The regional police in Camp Alagar are also expecting some 16 police officers from Albuera, Leyte, including the town’s controversial police chief Jovie Espenido.

Chief Inspector Espenido and other 15 policemen have been ordered transferred effective December 8 and they were expected to report in PRO-Northern Mindanao on December 20.

Espenido appeared before the Senate probe after self-confessed drug lord Kerwin Espinosa implicated his name as the one who introduced Kerwin to Ronnie Dayan, the alleged bagman and former lover of Senator Leila de Lima.

Espenido said in media interviews that he will be reassigned to Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental.

But Serenas said the Northern Mindanao police regional director will still have to determine the assignments of Espenido and other Albuera policemen once they report next week.

"RD will decide where they will be assigned based on staff recommendation," Serenas said.
