Habagat Dragonboat to race in Boracay

AFTER a successful stint this year, the Gruppo Habagat Dragonboat Team will take a well-deserved break before going back to the grind to prepare for the 11th Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival in Boracay Island.

The Gruppo Habagat Team, composed mostly of Cebuano athletes, soared in the 2016 Puerto Princesa International Club Crew Championships last month, winning two gold medals on top of one silver medal and two bronzes.

The event was joined by club crews from Berlin, Los Angeles, Chinese Taipei, Japan Singapore, Hongkong, Manila, Batangas, Palawan, Tacloban, Iligan and Cebu.

Gruppo Habagat Team paddler Jade Abelllana said that the 11th Boracay International Dragon Boat Festival slated on April 20 to 22, which is expected to draw teams from different countries.

She said that local and foreign teams will come to the country for this dragonboat race. The last edition drew participants from Singapore, USA, Dubai, Hongkong and local squads.
