WITH countless gatherings this Yuletide season, the National Nutrition Commission-Cordillera Administrative Region (NNC-CAR) is reminding the public to observe a proper diet during the Christmas break.
NNC-CAR regional coordinator Rita Papey said individuals should be careful and selective of what they eat to lessen health problems.
“You can eat food but control the volume or the amount of food you will eat,” Papey said.
Papey added the fatty, salty, and sweet foods should be controlled in every meal.
The NNC official reminded individuals to still observe "Pinggang Pinoy", literally translated as Filipino Plate which is a visual representation of what a person should consume on a per meal basis.
Papey is recommending when eating meat or fish, it should be at least 17 percent of the content per meal and should not exceed the allowable intake.
Aside from lessening meat intake, individuals are advised to have at least one third of fruit and vegetables and should be served during meals.
The public is also reminded to have regular exercise in consonance with their diet to have a healthy body.
