Olango residents treated to rides, goodies by City

THE Lapu-Lapu City Government treated more than 10,000 children in Olango Island to three days of fun and games as part of the Christmas season.

The three-day activity called Kiddieland started last Dec. 16.

The City offered inflatable rides and a Santa Bike, among others.

Nicole Balao, Kiddieland coordinator and executive assistant of the City Tourism Office, said that this is the third year that the City held the activity in Olango.

“The activity was made possible because of Mayor Paz Radaza. The Christmas season is really for the kids. This is one way to share (something) for the kids,” Balao said.

For adults, too

For the Santa Bike, volunteers distributed can-dies to children in the island last Friday.

Inflatable rides were set up in the Mini Hoopsdome last Saturday and Sunday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Aside from this, the City also set up a building-block room and a booth where children could watch the City’s robotics team in action.

The parents could avail themselves of a free makeup, massage, haircut and a fish spa.

Kiddieland was open to the residents of the island’s eight barangays and three islet villages.

“For the three years we have been doing this, daghan kids moingon (a lot of kids requested an extension). Ang kids katoltol na sila sa Kiddieland (The kids are already familiar with the Kiddieland activity),” Balao said.

The City will also conduct Kiddieland on the Mactan mainland on Dec. 29 and 30 for the fourth year in a row.
