MARK Panerio came up with 25 points and the Panthers beat the Cobras, 77-71, in the elimination round of the Elite Basketball Club Talisay Season 1 at the Vista Grande Gym in Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu last Sunday.
Panerio lifted the Panthers, the reigning champion in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu City Season 7, to a six-point victory and finished as the Best Player of the Game. Gabriel Estores chipped in 13 points for the Panthers.
Big man Jefford Aldave powered his way to 25 points, while Tyron Manayon added 14 in a losing effort for the Cobras.
In the other game, Pandas leaned on balance offense with four players scoring in double digit to sneak past Stallion, 79-76. Sean Povadora top scored for the Pandas with 19 points, while Jonathan Adlawan and Dharryl Balabas scoring 17 and 16 apiece.
Prince Malana’s 33 point-game went to naught as the Stallions fell short to the Pandas. Lorenzo Bacaltos added nine markers for the losing team.
Meanwhile, the Dragons spit fire to stop the soaring Falcons, 56-53. Renz Tayong spearheaded the Dragons with 17 points, while Joirene Salcedo led the Falcons with 12 markers.
The basketball tournament is organized by Run Jump Shoot Events and presented by Tough Gear Sportswear.
