13 Baguio fire officers awarded

THE Bureau of Fire Protection Cordillera Administrative Region (BFP-CAR) gave recognition to 13 fire officers of Baguio City Fire Station who have displayed courageous feats in the performance of their duty has in the region during the 43rd Fire Service Recognition Day at Pines View Hotel, Baguio City.

BFP-CAR personnel together with the guest of honor and speaker CSUPT Leonidas Perez, Deputy Chief for Operations from the BFP National Headquarters awarded the Medalya ng Papuri to outstanding fire officers of Baguio City.

SFO1 Nellie Cudao, SFO1 Richard Poschor, F03 Alex Gerard Aquitania and FO1 Dominador Bagano were awarded for their undying showcase of bravery and courage in attending a victim at Bagong Bayan, Salud Mitra Barangay, Baguio City on August 31.

SFO1 Raul Doctolero, FO3 Sammy Gadgad, FO3 Alex Gerard Aquitania, FO2 Freddie Longangen and FO1 Dominador Bagano were also awarded for their quick response in rescuing 13-year-old Jonaliza Tuazon who crawled into the small opening down to a confined space about 10-15 meters deep in a private cemetery at Purok 8 Sampaguita, San Luis, Baguio City on June 25.

SFO3 Andres Lipao Jr, SFO1 Richard Poschor, FO2 Wilfredo Franco Jr., and FO2 Marlon Martinez in were also given recognition for their bravery and quick response in attending to Ferdinand Rivera Mangusan, Jr. who suffered gunshot wounds and Denis Pilapil Balvestamin who sustained a stab wound on his right chest on September 3 at 1st Road, Quezon Hill, Baguio City.

Other awardees from the region are six fire officers also from Bakun Municipal Fire Station, four fire officers from Atok Municipal Fire Station, 12 from OPFM Ifugao, four from Bontoc Municipal Fire Station, 20 from Mountain Province; seven from Pidigan Fire Station in Abra, five from OPFM Abra; seven from Sta. Marcela Fire Stationin Apayao, 18 from OPFM Apayao/Luna Municipal Fire Station, six from Pinukpuk Municipal Fire Station in Kalinga; andfive5 from OPFM Kalinga.

“We also walk ahead through the accomplishment of our vision and mission. The BFP will be always ready to serve the community. We also hope in this coming years we shall have reasons to look back with gratitude. We believe that this celebration, we dedicated to our colleagues who dedicated their lives who extended support, cooperation and partnership in the community,” Perez said to the awardees.
