Raps filed vs 2 suspects transporting marijuana

A COMPLAINT for possession of illegal drugs was filed on Tuesday by the Dumangas Municipal Police Station before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office against the two suspects who transported 11 kilos of marijuana through Dumangas port on Friday.

Lieutenant Commander Ramil Palabrica, commander of Coast Guard Station-Iloilo, said Tonichi Juson Ami, 25, and Abdullah Laurel Ishaq, 29, both residents of Villamonte village, Bacolod City were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects were about to board a roll on-roll off (Roro) vessel traveling to Bacolod around 7:30 a.m. when the K9 team with their sniffing dogs detected the illegal drugs from their baggage.

About 11 kilos of marijuana leaves and bricks worth P110,000 were recovered from the suspects. Also seized were liquid substance for drugs, four sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," and tooter.

Palabrica said the suspects traveled from Batangas to Mindoro, Mindoro to Caticlan, and Caticlan to Iloilo to bring the drugs supply that came from Benguet to Bacolod.
