‘Bantay Negosyo’ set to discuss security measures

THE Task Group Bantay Negosyo will hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss security measures to protect business establishments and the public against robberies and other crimes in Bacolod City.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, task group head, said on Monday he sent notices to the members on December 29 to attend the meeting at the City Mayor’s Office at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The members are Councilors Ricardo Tan and Em Amg; Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office; City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan; Celestino Guara of City Mayor’s Office; Alfredo Barcelona and Benjamin Ortega of Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Inc.; Roberto Montelibano and Leonito Lopue of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce Inc.; Tsai Wen Ming and Kim Tan of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Negros Chapter; Crispin Chua and Roger Yap of Amity Emergency Services Foundation Inc.

Councilors Cindy Rojas and Elmer Sy are also included in the group.

On the night of December 25, Chinese businessman Wu Changle, 26, of Fujian, China and security guard Jilbert Mayang of Hinoba-an town, Negros Occidental were shot to death by a lone assailant who robbed JDS Mindoro Enterprises Corp. on Locsin-Luzuriaga Streets.

The robber carted away about P1 million cash, the store’s earnings for three days.

Injured were three other Chinese nationals also from Fujian, China.

Familiaran said they will assess the strengths and weaknesses of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and determine on how to improve their accomplishments.

He added that they will also discuss if there is a need to tap the force multipliers or non-government organizations, or to add an additional funds to assist the city police.
