MEMBERS of the La Trinidad Strawberry Festival Executive Committee recently convened to review possible changes and improvement of the upcoming festival plans in March next year.
According to La Trinidad Tourism Officer Valred Olsim, the tourism council has come up with several suggestions for the one month festivity.
“There will be a competition for a Strawberry Festival Jingle this month of January. We might select a theme song too in the future,” he reiterated.
Olsim added that a P25,000 cash prize awaits the top winner of the jingle.
In addition, he said a mural and art contest will also be part of the festival’s promotional activity while improving the aesthetics of surrounding areas of the municipal gym and the walls leading to the vegetable trading post.
The winner in the contest will be given cash prizes and other surprises courtesy of the La Trinidad Trading Post Cooperative.
Olsim added the Mr. and Miss La Trinidad Tourism title will push through as part of the festival.
The Strawberry Festival Executive Council is set to invite Department of Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol as guest speaker during the main program.
Other noted guest who were on the list include Senator Nancy Binay, Ormoc Rep. Lucy Torres Gomez, and Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Sustaining the Fruits of La Trinidad’s Agro-Eco Tourism.”
The festival will be launched later this month in a press conference slated January 25 as the different committees are finalizing the program and other activities.
