Village councilor slain

A VILLAGE councilor just made it past New Year when he was shot dead while playing cards with some relatives at his house in Purok 4, Communal village in Buhangin District, Davao City around 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 3.

Police are eyeing personal grudge over a land dispute as theorized by

relatives.

Chief Inspector Milgrace Cajes Driz, chief of Buhangin Police Station, identified the victim as Domingo Pepito “Nonoy” Tano, 50, a councilor of Communal village.

The killer arrived on a red Honda XRM motorcycle and shot the victim several times, hitting him three times in the chest, neck and head.

"Gipalawman pa nato ang investigation, pero possible nga motive ani personal grudge o work related. Sa personal grudge duol ang giingong bangi sa yuta, matud sa pamilya (We're still conducting further investigation but the highly probable motive is personal grudge or work related. The personal grudge angle involves a land dispute, according to his family)," Driz told SunStar SuperBalita.
