THE Negros Island Region Athletic Association (Niraa) Meet-bound Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts gained a lot of experience in their participation in the 4th Invitational Men and Women Open Tournament last December 26-30 in Passi City, Iloilo.

Despite the team’s second runner-up finish, Tay Tung vice chairman for Sports Jose Montalbo said the good thing about the tournament was that their players 15 years Under gained more exposure.

“That honed their skills further because their opponents belonged to the older category (21 years old and up),” he said. “They gained a lot of experience and it even helped boost their confidence because they were made to play against very good and well-trained athletes.”

Montalbo, however, suggested that in the next tournament, the players should be at the venue at least two days before the tournament to adjust to the playing ground and eliminate travel lag.

Among its opponents were Western Institute of Technology, Central Philippine University, and the Amazons. (HGD)
